British Columbia Electric Railway Company fonds. 1896-1961.

The fonds consists principally of bound and filed correspondence of the Company (1896-1914), early minute books and accounting records of the BCER and related companies, as well as scrapbooks and clippings on microfilm which reflect the growth and diversity of the Company. Also included is a valuable collection of 650 maps, diagrams, and engineering and architectural plans.

The British Columbia Electric Railway Company was formed in 1897 through the amalgamation of a number of electric street railways and electric power facilities in Vancouver, Victoria and New Westminster. The BCER operated numerous subsidiary companies to provide streetcar and electric services.
